BELIEVER IN CHRIST AS MY BEST FRIEND

  After   this   the   Lord   appointed   x seventy-two 1   others   and   y sent   them   on   ahead   of   him ,  two   by   two ,  into   every   town   and   place   where   he   himself   was   about   to   go .   2  z And   he   said   to   them ,  “ The   harvest   is   plentiful ,  but   the   laborers   are   few .  a Therefore   pray   earnestly   to   the   Lord   of   the   harvest   to   send   out   laborers   into   his   harvest .   3  Go   your   way ;  b behold ,  I   am   sending   you   out   as   lambs   in   the   midst   of   wolves .   4  c Carry   no   moneybag ,  no   knapsack ,  no   sandals ,  and   d greet   no   one   on   the   road .   5  Whatever   house   you   enter ,  first   say ,  e ‘ Peace   be   to   this   house !’   6  And   if   a   son   of   peace   is   there ,  your   peace   will   rest   upon   him .  But   if   not ,  f it   will   return   to   you .   7  And   remain   in   the   same   house ,  eating   and   drinking   what   they  

  When anyone brings a grain offering to the  Lord , their offering is to be of the finest flour. They are to pour olive oil on it, put incense on it   2  and take it to Aaron’s sons the priests. The priest shall take a handful of the flour and oil, together with all the incense, and burn this as a memorial [ a ]  portion on the altar, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the  Lord .   3  The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the food offerings presented to the  Lord .  4  “‘If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven, it is to consist of the finest flour: either thick loaves made without yeast and with olive oil mixed in or thin loaves made without yeast and brushed with olive oil.   5  If your grain offering is prepared on a griddle, it is to be made of the finest flour mixed with oil, and without yeast.   6  Crumble it and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering.   7  If your grain offering is cooked in a pan, it is to be made of

  Ahaz sent messengers to say to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, “I am your servant and vassal. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram and of the king of Israel, who are attacking me.”   8  And Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the temple of the  Lord  and in the treasuries of the royal palace and sent it as a gift to the king of Assyria.   9  The king of Assyria complied by attacking Damascus and capturing it. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death. Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.   11  So Uriah the priest built an altar in accordance with all the plans that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus and finished it before King Ahaz returned.   12  When the king came back from Damascus and saw the altar, he approached it and presented offerings [ a ]  on it.   13  He offered up his burnt offer

 2 Kings 15:32-20:21 In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.   33  He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.   34  He did what was right in the eyes of the  Lord , just as his father Uzziah had done.   35  The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.
